What is a Chart?

A Chart is a graphical representation of data. Charts help users understand, compare and analyse information quickly by converting numerical values into visual forms.

Instead of reading large tables of numbers, charts help us identify trends, comparisons and patterns at a glance.

Elements of a Chart

Element Description
Chart Title Name of the chart.
Axis Displays categories and values.
Legend Identifies different data series.
Data Series The actual values represented in the chart.
Gridlines Help compare values accurately.
Data Labels Display values directly on the chart.

Steps to Create a Chart

  1. Enter data into the worksheet.
  2. Select the required data range.
  3. Click Insert → Chart.
  4. Select the required chart type.
  5. Choose the data range and data series.
  6. Add Chart Title and Axis Titles.
  7. Display Legend if required.
  8. Click Finish.
